About The Opportunity:

This role is for a Marketing Strategist (Contract) to join our growing team. You will focus on the overall strategic guidance of accounts and projects, providing expert consultation and thought leadership, partnering with the account/project manager who serves as the daily client contact. You will leverage your experience in marketing, strategy, and analysis to develop winning strategies that drive results for our clients.

This is a remote/WFH position, on a collaborative fully virtual team. This is a contract project-based position where hours may ebb and flow week-to-week (average 5-20 hours/week), with the potential to grow into a full-time hire.

You are a strategic and analytical thinker with a passion for digital marketing. You thrive on understanding complex client needs and translating them into actionable strategies. You have a strong background in B2B marketing, ideally within the technical, industrial, and/or manufacturing space. You’re a team player at heart, thriving in a collaborative environment, and building strong relationships with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Here are the key qualities we’re looking for:

  • Strategic Planning: You’re able to quickly develop a deep understanding of the client’s goals, offerings, and audience drivers, and have a proven ability to develop digital marketing strategies aligned with client goals.
  • Market & Research Expertise: You have experience conducting competitor research including analyzing websites, SEO, messaging, and overall marketing approach. You leverage data and analytics tools like Google Analytics, SEMRush, and other web-based tools to inform your strategies and measure success. You prioritize accuracy, logic, problem-solving, and action.
  • Technical Knowledge: You have a strong understanding of Website UI/UX and performance, SEO, Paid Media, Marketing Automation, and familiarity with ABM, Lead Intelligence, and AI-driven marketing tools (a plus).
  • Digital Marketing Expertise: You possess a deep understanding of B2B marketing and the ability to guide a team of practitioners toward success. You understand the importance of specificity and lead quality vs. quantity, particularly within the technical and industrial landscape.
  • Communication Skills: You excel at both verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex marketing concepts to clients with a variety of levels of knowledge. Though not the day-to-day contact on accounts, you can easily and comfortably facilitate client meetings, negotiate effectively, and influence project stakeholders to create win-win solutions.
  • Teamwork: You thrive in a collaborative environment, effectively leading and coordinating efforts within a team, while honoring the team’s subject matter expertise, and guiding it to be “on strategy” for a given client. You showcase your positive attitude; effective listening skills; empathy, assertiveness, and an ongoing interest in learning.

You will:

Lead Client Discovery
Use qualitative and quantitative evaluation to:

  • Review prospect websites and competitor data to provide preliminary insights and opportunities during the sales cycle
  • Participate in and contribute to client kickoff and discovery
  • Analyze competitor position, messaging, and marketing mix
  • Review existing client marketing assets and campaigns
  • Understand target audience perspectives and challenges
  • Uncover critical differentiators for client offerings
  • Assess market opportunities
  • Align with client on goals and objectives

Document Key Strategic Parameters
Author simple and clear documents to:

  • Clarify goals and objectives
  • Define target audiences
  • Identify marketing opportunities
  • Articulate a recommended overall go-to-market approach
  • Align design, development, SEO, paid media, and writing teams with a practical and goal-oriented strategic vision

Marketing Strategy Insights and Plan Development
Use your skills, experience, and expertise to:

  • Lead the creation of website strategy briefs and digital marketing strategic roadmaps, as a framework for team contributions
  • Collaborate with team members to shape tactics and actions
  • Ensure that tactics align with and support overall goals and strategy
  • Collaborate with account/project managers to present plans to the client, and align on next steps

Your Skills and Background:

  • 3+ years of experience in digital marketing, preferably in a B2B setting, with a strong understanding of the technical, industrial, and/or manufacturing space.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in marketing, strategy, and analysis.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable marketing strategies.
  • Skilled at analyzing large quantities of research and information, identifying relevant insights, and conveying complex ideas into clear, actionable takeaways.
  • Expertise in SEO, PPC, Website Design/Development, CRM/Marketing Automation platforms (HubSpot preferred).
  • Mac user with Google Apps and Microsoft Office experience (Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus, but not required).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have:

  • ABM, Lead Intelligence, and AI-driven marketing tool experience a plus
