Account Project Manager

About Us:

We’re on a mission to bring the power of modern marketing to B2B technical industries, so they can achieve greater success. For over a decade, we’ve helped B2B marketers in technical, industrial and manufacturing industries accelerate growth through highly effective websites and powerful digital marketing.

About The Opportunity:

This is a client-facing project and account management role that supports the execution of both project-based work (primarily website builds and redesigns) and retainer-based digital marketing programs. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for a group of client accounts, managing strategy, execution, timelines, and communication. You’ll lead both strategic planning and hands-on coordination, ensuring that all work aligns with client goals, is delivered on time and on budget, and supports Windmill’s high standards for quality and profitability.

This is a full-time, remote/WFH position on a fully virtual team.
Salary range: $70,000 – $95,000, based on experience.

About You:

You are smart, strategic, realistic, logical, results – and process – oriented. You thrive on addressing client needs and to plan and execute strategies that guide the success of both our clients and Windmill Strategy.

You are a natural problem solver and communicator, with the ability to balance the needs of the client, Windmill, and our internal team to create win-win solutions. You have deep knowledge of web and digital marketing processes, think quickly on your feet, and are a pro at delegation and prioritization.

Internal and external project teams turn to you for clarity and strategic guidance throughout both projects and ongoing marketing programs. You’re adept at connecting the dots—keeping teams aligned, workflows organized, and goals top of mind.

You excel at keeping clients happy and well-informed, turning them into raving fans of our team, process, and the results they get from working with us. You lead with empathy, stay calm under pressure, and never lose sight of the bigger picture—even as you manage the smallest details.

Most importantly, you want to join a team of great people who are passionate about growing our company and helping our clients succeed.

Here are the key qualities we’re looking for:

Key Qualities:

  • Project Ownership: You are adept and confident in managing complex timelines, dependencies, and cross-functional coordination across website builds, digital campaigns, and retainers.
  • Client Relationship Management: You are skilled in building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction, and uncovering growth opportunities. You naturally identify opportunities to expand accounts and evolve strategies that deepen relationships and deliver greater value over time.
  • Strategic Insight: You bring strong knowledge of B2B marketing, website builds, and digital campaigns, and help shape and execute tactics that support broader business goals.
  • Operational Leadership: You bring order to ambiguity with excellent planning, resource coordination, and documentation.
  • Financial Acumen: You understand how to manage budgets, track profitability, and maintain the health of both fixed-scope projects and recurring MRR relationships.

  • Adaptability: You thrive in a fast-paced, client-first environment where multitasking and shifting priorities are the norm.
  • Communication Skills: You excel at both verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex marketing concepts to clients with a variety of levels of knowledge. You can easily and comfortably facilitate client meetings, negotiate effectively, and influence project stakeholders to create win-win solutions.

  • Leadership Qualities: You continually display honesty, integrity, and the ability to stay calm under pressure, while prioritizing and delegating with the company’s best interests top of mind.

You Will:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of client accounts, leading the planning and execution of both project-based (e.g., websites, redesigns) and ongoing digital marketing retainers.
  • Comprehend the essential dynamics, strategies, and drivers of each client’s business and help guide project strategy and deliverables to align with those goals.
  • Collaborate with internal team members to develop estimates, scopes of work, proposals, and execution plans.
  • Lead project kickoffs and maintain clear project documentation including timelines, goals, scope definitions, and priorities.
  • Manage schedules and internal resourcing across a small, multidisciplinary team of designers, developers, marketers, writers, and contractors.
  • Monitor project scope, risks, and dependencies—raising flags and coordinating change orders when needed.
  • Facilitate internal and external meetings, ensuring clarity of outcomes, next steps, and documented follow-up.
  • Proofread and QA copy, web, and design deliverables to ensure quality standards and requirements are being met.
  • Review and track time, budgets, and invoices to ensure financial accuracy and project profitability.
