Aries Systems wanted a sophisticated and modern website that would provide a rich and user-friendly experience for publishers, authors, and editors alike. The site features a video library, custom icons, and infographics that illustrate the software’s workflows, a quick-search Journals List tool for editors, and a wide variety of page layouts.

"I’ve worked with Windmill on several different projects for various organizations and each time I have been impressed with their project management skills. They are easy (and enjoyable) to work with, while always keeping us on track and on task. And what’s more, the end result has been a beautiful, intuitive and well designed product."

"Wow! The publication is just beautiful! This modern look & feel will have far-reaching appeal to our members and, we hope, to non-members and those interested in joining CSE. I guarantee that our snazzy new site is going to make my job of recruiting articles much easier. Authors will be thrilled to see their names in lights! With many thanks for our partnership. It’s been great working together."

MMPA worked with Windmill Strategy (formerly Windmill Design) on a refresh of our logo and a much-needed redesign of our website. As our organization has continued to evolve, the Windmill team helped guide our strategy to engage our audience more deeply. We love the new logo; the website better connects members to our content; navigation is user-friendly, and we're more easily discovered online. Windmill was great to work with, and they took the time to understand what we needed.

Our experience with Windmill has shown them to be highly competent, responsive, professional, polite and most of all effective. They were tasked with designing and implementing a website with more technical requirements than most and I am very satisfied with their results. Highly recommended!

I was tasked at my job to find a website design team to give us a complete new makeover. We are an Engineering/Manufacturing company with 4 sister companies. I interviewed several different companies but as soon as I spoke with Kathy, I knew I had found the right folks for the job! Because we are a specialized engineering/manufacturing company, not everyone knows how our products work. Marketing a restaurant or selling t-shirts is easy. Specialized products, not so much. Unlike other companies, Windmill provided us with a report at the initial quoting phase with statistics and comparisons of our competitors in our industry. We were completely blown away at their attention to detail and it's carried over from beginning to the end. We've just launched our website a few days ago and there's no way we would've been as successful if we hadn't hired them. Note: I was advised by many to look for a local marketing firm since we're based in Rhode Island and Windmill is based in Minnesota. I can say that hiring local really doesn't matter and you shouldn't be worried if you've found a trusted source like Windmill Strategy. The online meetings has been absolutely great. They have great tools that make it easy to input your information that helps keep everything organized. Jackson was our project manager and helped us to stay on top of the schedule and sent friendly reminders and scheduled regular phone call updates. Jen is the queen of design and she is very good at capturing what you describe on paper. Matt is their copywriter and he was able to capture of essence, tone and vibe we wanted on our site to the T.If you're looking for a website design and strategy company to increase your traffic flow while updating your company's brand or starting from scratch, let Windmill Strategy handle it for you. You'll be soooo glad you did! Cindy DejesusPrimary Flow Signal, Inc.

Windmill Has a Longstanding Reputation in the Academic Publishing Industry

One challenge the publishing community faces is the creation of online journals. Whether using an existing software platform or creating a CMS-driven website, this requires careful management of engagement metrics, page views, ad placement, subscription sales, and appealing gated content.

Since you aren’t targeting the typical consumer, we often have to work with unique messaging and conversion paths. For example, the typical buyer of an academic textbook is a student, while the instructor that selects the books used in the curriculum is actually the target audience. Often, authors can be the primary audience for journals while librarians are the actual purchaser. This makes it important to effectively identify your target audience to create a successful online presence.

Our team has been working with scholarly, technical, clinical and niche publishing groups for years. Because of this, we can meet the diverse challenges that this group has to face. Whether it’s working closely with your editorial staff or marketing manager, our team won’t have trouble adapting to your needs.

We also understand that working with your decision makers follows a different process than a typical business would use. Our team is capable of working closely with your leaders, and has developed unique processes for working with and gaining consensus from large boards and memberships.

Let’s discover your best path forward

"Thank you so much for all your help! It is really exciting to see everything come together. It is very satisfying to see where we were at the beginning and what we have achieved during the process."
