You will leverage your experience in marketing, creative direction, messaging, strategy, and analysis to develop winning strategies that drive results for our clients.

This is a remote/WFH position, on a collaborative fully virtual team. This is a contract, project-based position where hours may ebb and flow week-to-week (average 5-20 hours/week).

About the Role:

Windmill Strategy is seeking a dynamic Marketing Strategist with expertise in B2B digital marketing, brand messaging, and campaign execution for industrial and technical sectors. This role combines high-level strategy with tactical execution, requiring deep knowledge of marketing and digital content strategy, as well as hands-on experience in creative direction and sales support. You’ll lead our marketing initiatives and serve as a subject matter expert for prospective clients.

About You:

You are a strategic and analytical thinker with a passion for digital marketing. You thrive on understanding complex client needs and translating them into actionable strategies. You have a strong background in B2B marketing and brand strategy, ideally within the technical, industrial, and/or manufacturing space. You’re a team player at heart, thriving in a collaborative environment, and building strong relationships with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Here are the key qualities we’re looking for:

  • Strategic Planning: You’re adept at quickly grasping client goals, offerings, and audience needs, with a proven track record of developing digital marketing strategies aligned with client objectives. You have experience not only crafting marketing and content strategies but also translating strategic vision into actionable campaigns for the team to execute.
  • Market & Research Expertise: You’re skilled at conducting competitor and market research, including analyzing websites, SEO, messaging, conducting stakeholder interviews, and overall marketing approaches. Leveraging tools like Google Analytics, SEMRush, and additional analytics resources, you gather data-driven insights that guide your strategies and measure success.
  • Creative & Brand Messaging Development: You excel in crafting cohesive brand messaging frameworks, including concise core messages, engaging brand stories, and tailored value propositions. Your ability to refine messaging for brand consistency is supported by hands-on creative direction, the development of tone and voice guidelines for consistent communication, and actionable recommendations to refine visual elements such as logos, color schemes, and design styles to align with brand messaging.
  • Workshop Facilitation & Stakeholder Engagement: You have expertise in designing and leading structured workshops to align teams around a unified brand strategy. You collaborate effectively to uncover challenges and create opportunities for differentiation.
  • Technical Knowledge: Your understanding goes beyond brand and creative and includes knowledge of how this work can influence and overlap Website UI/UX, SEO, Paid Media, and Marketing Automation, as well as with ABM, Email Marketing, and AI-driven marketing tools. You’re able to identify the best tools and processes to ensure the marketing team delivers high-quality, data-informed results.
  • Leadership & Communication Skills: Your verbal and written communication skills are excellent, allowing you to clearly convey complex marketing concepts to clients with diverse knowledge levels. While not a day-to-day client contact, you’re comfortable facilitating client meetings and guiding strategic discussions, mentoring team members, and influencing stakeholders with empathy and professionalism.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: You thrive in a collaborative environment, coordinating team efforts effectively while honoring team members’ expertise. With a positive attitude, strong listening skills, empathy, and assertiveness, you foster a supportive and productive team culture. You’re able to act as both an advisor to the project team, and a contributing member to a project, adhering to project schedules and deliverables. Your focus on ongoing learning and development contributes to the team’s success and growth.

Nice to have:

  • Process Development: You have a knack for creating efficient workflows and process improvements, especially as they relate to new offerings and solutions within the company. You work with the APMs to create actionable project plans and workflows that can be templatized, repeated, and taught to others.
  • Digital Marketing & Thought Leadership Expertise: You bring deep expertise in B2B digital marketing, with a focus on quality lead generation and audience-specific content within technical and industrial landscapes. You contribute to thought leadership initiatives, including written articles, webinars, and strategic marketing pieces, establishing yourself and Windmill as a trusted resource.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Development: Develop and implement processes for relevant new service offerings, optimizing internal workflows to increase efficiency and enhance client experiences.
